@ SOA we continue trying to help people because its what's right and it means something to those who are on the receiving end. Sometimes you just need the universe to give you a little cosmic rope. I know when I've needed it there seemed to be a stranger willing to lend a helping hand. It's only fair to keep paying it forward, and hope that it comes full circle when we are weak and need someone else to lift us up.

Some people who read a blog asking for help pm that person offering help, knowing that offering it publicly may not even be seen by the person asking, for whatever reason, and asking directly will most likely result in a reply.
I would imagine most of the time help is given and the person expresses their appreciation privately.
I agree that in those cases, it would be nice to acknowledge in the blog that help was given and thank others for their consideration and offers, but the person asking for help many times goes on with their life satisfied that they thanked the person who helped them.

I can afford the L. I do try to help people and most of them are good and appreciate it and communicate even if they canāt fulfill their end.
The problem isnāt the falling down. The problem is the zero communication. I have helped at least one prominent member here and I will continue to because she is a good person. She hasnāt made good on her end entirely but she also never ghosts me.
A $100 for someone who needs it and who I know and have seen isnāt a big deal. $20 for other clients who have taken a L for the rest of us and warned us about a shitty provider is well worth me throwing in that money.
