You should really clarify. The Actor from Emergency known as John Gage. He was 80 years old. Our Randy from HX is much younger, and shall I go out on a limb and state that he is very much ALIVE.

He clarified who he was talking about with the link. I was afraid it was "our" Randy too until I clicked on it.

Oh, THAT Randy Mantooth who played the strong but sensitive paramedic John Gage on "Emergency!" in the 1970s. At first I was yelling "Nooooooooooooooooo!!!!". He made it to 80 and that's not a bad run.

Very cool guy .
I met him multiple times.
We were in the same circles for awhile.
R.I.P. Randy from emergency.

Sad day indeed. Especially for those who were hoping this blog was about me. Hell, even I had to click the link to make sure.
I promise not to die, as long as Maribel promises not to block me.
Pour one out for the OG Randy. I nearly went with Johnny Gage for my handle back in the day. Glad I chose Randy. I'll do my best not to besmirch the name of a great man.

RIP Randolph.
I like to think that he and the show are to some degree responsible for saving millions of lives by this point. The awareness the show created led to funding priorities which rapidly accelerated the EMS infrastructure in this country, and throughout the world. Legions of paramedics cite the show as an inspiration to enter the field.
When the show debuted, there were only a small handful of advanced life support emergency units in the US. A decade later, about half of Americans lived within 10 minutes of paramedic resources. Today, just about everyone in the US lives within and is serviced by a 911 system with capabilities to provide life-saving care in the field.

Good one, Randy. As Larry the Cable Guy would drawl: "I don't care who ya are, that's funny right there."
Now there's only 1 OG Randy above the dirt. May he live long and prosper.
