Awwwww there's gotta be someone in the community with some experience with helping our pets.
Last October I had to dump $3K (that I had to borrow & pay back PDQ, I'm thankful) to save one of my dogs & medical insurance for them is bogus IMHO
Veterinary medicine and X-ray, tests they run & they never really give you an answer ...... I wish you and your pup well & hopefully everything turns out fine. (crossing my fingers)
As an animal lover I know what you're going through and it totally sucks !!!

I too would love to find a vet on the site. Glad you created this blog and I wish you well with your fur baby.
I hear there are reliable vets in TJ that are not even a fraction of the price they charge in the US. A quick trip across the border is worth it for treatments/surgeries etc. that will otherwise set you back 10k+

Thank you ladies for the great advice. I was contemplating getting their next dentals done in TJ. A veterinarian at an emergency animal hospital told me on the down low it’s 1/2 the price down there.
I know exactly what you’re talking about. I had to pay $1,900 at a 24 hr emergency animal hospital which also coupled with a multi-specialty vet hospital. You get maybe 15 minutes, 20 max to speak with a veterinarian & that’s stretching it. Every single time I’ve had to do this whether it be at my dogs regular family vet clinic, a veterinary cardiologist or a 24 hr emergency animal hospital… NOT EVER have I gotten a straight answer or diagnosis. I get a bunch of … could be this could be that, we just need more money from you so we can run more tests! I walk out broke, confused & with more questions than I had before!

Not a veterinarian, but my 10 year old dog was just diagnosed with softening of the trachea. He fits the profile in the link below: small breed, enlarged heart, cough sounds like a honking at times other times like a cat hacking up a hair ball. Doesn’t do it all the time. Confirmation did require an x-ray, and was given medication - I think a cough suppressant - for when it does happen.
I hope you’re able to get the diagnosis , and treatment, for your dog. I certainly understand how you feel - our pups really are like family.

What testing has been done to date? Bloodwork? Ultrasound, X-ray? It's possible to try certain treatmens without a difinitive diagnosis you just have to sign some releases to get underway.
