I say go for it. Sherman Oaks is more doable for me coming from Ventura County.

parking in sherman oaks is meh also, it's decent, but I found it annoying sometimes driving the highway to get to West Hollywood

Sherman Oaks is a beautiful area and it’s close to a Main Street where there’s dozens of amazing bars and restaurants. I love it over here!

Gina, I must retract my endorsement of Sherman Oaks. You'll have the same high costs, high crime, horrible congestion and riots (watch todays news) as West Hollywood.
I suggest finding a nice place in Orange County with reasonable freeway access and parking.
