April 2nd Autism Awareness Day
Mar 31 2025 09:20AM more by Tygeryinn16

Take a moment to see the world through a different lens one filled with deep thoughts, beautiful routines, and the kind of kindness that’s quiet but powerful.

On this day, we wear blue to show our support, love, and understanding for those in the autism community. But beyond the color, let's practice empathy, real empathy, for those who may experience the world differently.

Autistic individuals are often some of the most caring, thoughtful, and deeply feeling people you’ll ever meet. They may not always express it the way the world expects, but their love, loyalty, and insight run deep.

Let’s not just be aware let’s accept, appreciate, and advocate. Let’s celebrate what makes each person different, special, and truly extraordinary.

💙 Be kind. Be patient. Be open.

It seems that there is a shortage of empathy in the world these days.

The movie ‘Temple Grandin’ is a must see if you want to understand autism and people on the spectrum. Claire Danes did an amazing job portraying this young lady dealing with this condition, and it provides insight into the autistic brain.

This fucking lady was a true or is a true genius.
She was labeled as a nut case by those that thought the world was flat.

She saw things regular folks never saw. Designing things in her imagination and then implementing them.

Revolutionized some aspects of the cattle industry.

Amen !!
I had the privilege of having an autistic cousin, I probably learned more from her about real life, real emotions, real empathy & I'm so very grateful.

Some think that we’re all on the spectrum at some level, others call it OCD, ADHD etc.

I love that movie! Float is another great one—it’s a short animated film on Disney+ (only about 5 minutes) told from a parent’s perspective. I also recommend Loop, which centers on a non-verbal autistic girl and her peer learning to connect.

As adults, it’s so important that we teach kids to understand and appreciate differences—not to fear or mock them. Differences shouldn't divide us, and they definitely shouldn’t be the source of pain or exclusion. Instead, they should be respected, acknowledged, and celebrated.

also just want to say thank you to everyone who has shared in this thread. Your insights, stories, and recommendations are powerful and appreciated.

HX good side. lol. 😝

Sadly this country is rapidly becoming a place that is lacking both empathy and tolerance.

Tyger... Honestly most adults need to be taught too. . I'm autistic and it's Amazing how because I don't look like it, people take the things that I say or do wrong. It's only when I tell people they're like "ahhh now it makes sense" lol. But regardless just because someone doesn't have a certain look doesn't mean that they don't deserve a little more grace.

Yes. June. I agree. Adults need to be taught as well. 💙
