Hi. I am trying to unlock mail with a target gift card, but its not working. anyone having the same issue? i've done so in the past and never had an issue until today. it goes through the authentication and tells me it can take up to 60 seconds, but it just stops there and sends me back to the gift card info page. i don't wanna waste more money on gift cards if it isn't working.

Did you buy this gift card at a store or online?
Buying it at a store off the rack is risky as there is a lot of tampering,
and crooks steal the numbers and put it back on the rack, and wait for you to activate it
Then they drain the money.
ALWAYS buy gift cards online or have the physical card SENT to you..

I think someone else had similar issue last fall. I believe they tried again the next day, or maybe from a different browser, and it worked.

I had the same problems with Eddie Bauer, and Bed Bath and beyond gift cards.
I got the gift cards online and received the physical cards via mail.
In each company’s check card balance, the cards are loaded but when I type it in to HX. I am getting error codes.

The site in big letters offers users direct links to both Walmart and Home Depot. My suggestion would be to spend some more dollars and purchase online from Walmart at the link suggested. I believe that whole process is automated and super easy.

The money you spent on the Target card isn’t lost as you can still walk into any Target and buy merchandise with the card.

I am having the same problem. It says “we are having a network error with target at the moment. Try again in an hour.” It’s been nearly 24 hours and it’s still not working. I bought a Walmart card because I needed mail and it worked.

Yeah. I had the same issue. Bought it from a grocery store and it said something about a problem with Target's servers. Ended up buying a Home Depot card, which worked fine. Used the card to buy stuff at Target.

Don't try and reinvent the wheel. If someone mentions Walmart and Home Depot card's work easily.
Why try something else? Simplicity works.

Yes, I saw the same issues with Target gift card : try again in an hour or too many attempts try again in 10mins (ref 14). I changed my IP address (cellular vs wifi) and used browser in incognito mode and fortunately it worked. It would seriously suck if you could not redeem the GC for fxp.

I have reliably used Home Depot Gift cards purchased online and have not had a problem thus far. Just offering my two cents.

So, I tried an incognito browser (Firefox), and I also tried Safari. In both cases, I did not get the network error. Instead, it said "you must unregister your gift card from your Target account before trading it in." I guess I clicked "register my card" in my email while trying to figure things out when I was first getting the network error. After wasting a bunch of time trying to register the card, including downloading the Target app, I was unsuccessful. No advice or instructions I could find online led me to an option in the app or on the desktop site to fully remove the card from my account. I also tried to use the Target card to buy a Home Depot card. Apparently, Target doesn't allow that. It is super annoying because I have always used Target cards on HX, and I usually buy $25 of mail at a time, but I did $50 this time because I was tired of running out of mail. Instead, I ended up with $25 of mail purchased with a Walmart card and a $50 Target card I will have to actually use at Target. I guess the money is not technically lost, but it is really annoying.

Lesson learned: never try to buy points with a Target card again.

I bought a Target card instead of Home Depot at the last minute. Now kicking myself.
