Coco palms SGV. Its not bad and Sunday brunch lost its endless mimosa.. but really, what has been missing, is that :slow and low" tenderness with the punch of crispiness in the jacket(at least on my plate), and the yucca was watered down; lacked flavor infusion in the root. Typical of a fast cook method, where the flavor is solely in the sauce and not an immersive experience with each bite. A bit like sopping up gravy with a day old biscuit.

The menu doesnt appear to have masas de puerco but it does have mojito monday! Sounds like a contender.

Have you tried El Colmao on Pico, just west of LA Convention Center? Its a classic old style restaurant that has been around a long time. The place has old school no frills vibes, but the food is on spot and a place enjoyed by many Cuban families on the weekends. While I felt the previous owners provided bigger portions, the current owners are long time staff who bought them out.

Versailles, of course. This place has been around for over 50 years and has awesome macitas de puerco, yucca and tostones. The garlic chicken is also delicious. There’s three locations.
