What Brazilians Wear on New Year’s Eve

I’m Brazilian, so I wanted to share a little about how we do New Year’s Eve back home. It’s not just a party, it’s a ritual, and what you wear ACTUALLY means something.

White is for peace and fresh starts.
Yellow or gold is for money and abundance.
Red is passion and desire, pink is love.
Green is health.
Blue is calm and emotional balance

And yes, underwear counts too. A lot of people wear colorful underwear under a white outfit, just in case the universe is paying attention to details.

I will be wearing a white dress and a cute red lingerie

Do Brazilians wear yellow underwear on New Years and then take a walk around the block with a suitcase, symbolizing wealth and travel in the new year? I know some other South Americans that do that. It's crazy, they really take their suitcase and go for a half hour walk with it!
