Amazon Web Services outage. I believe their statement said something about running out of FX points.

The backbone of these websites and others is AWS.
They are having significant issues today.
They were up, and down they're down again.
Any systems that use them will need to be reset. This includes airlines, banks, online shopping etc.
Best to stay off if you can.
Work is a standstill for most people.

Some sites have been fucky wucky. That they're all owned/operated by Amazon (as implied here) is... worrisome.

Being a client of AWS is not the same as being owned by Amazon.

AWS is just free server space the Amazon has that it is renting. When Amazon needs it, its giving back that space to Amazon.
This is all that AWS is.
As of now....they have 102 global services out.

I didn't notice the Internet outage. I guess comparable to pre-internet reliance, would be when the (TV) cable would go out.
I remember must of been, 1997 cable goes out it's about 4pm weekday. Nothing else to do so, besides watch tv. Since I cant, I decide just to take the dog out and walk around the neighborhood, eventually finding the cable company desperately trying to fix the outage,

Yes Canvas was down since this morning. Wasn’t able to log into the portal for class for either my college course and the coding program im currently busy with…It’s working again though… lol shucks… back to studying I go 🤓

Since someone asked. The outtage was due to a DNS issue on one of the oldest locations they have. Looks like it was probably human error.
