One of them is HX sounds silly, but not to me.

You're not alone on dying single but on the bright side, I've met a lot of people, men and women, who tell me "never get married" so I guess not being married is a good way to live...

I thought I too was going to die single and I ended up rushing and marrying the wrong woman.
I am grateful for my friends that warned me about her beforehand but still stuck around after it all went downhill for me.

Rico that’s a real friend.
Someone who can speak their mind even when it don’t agree with theirs. The same someone who supports you through you fuck ups all the same.
Friends like that are rare and definitely to be cherished
I love hearing that those people still exist- gives me hope in humanity.

Absolutely!!
The good in that horrible situation was that I saw who really were my real friends. For that I am truly grateful to have those people in my life today.

After the second round of surgery to remove a cancerous thyroid, my so is on oxygen and will be needing it for the rest of her life.
She will probably go before me, and after that, I have no real reason to stick around.
For the second time in my life, I am a caregiver.

There are many reasons to stick around

Being single for sure is better than being in an unhappy relationship, or one where your partner does not have your back regardless of the circumstances.
In my case, I got married young, and after 52 years of marriage, I would marry her again in a heartbeat. I think she would do the same, but I have am not as perfect as she is.
There are happy stories, but I believe there are more unhappy ones.

I'd rather be single than to be lied to and cheated on. Marriage is a headache that I have yet to figure out. Would rather have a mutually beneficial relationship where I take care of all of his needs and he helps me fund mine....
But to answer
I'm grateful for honest and true friends. People that don't need to lie or manipulate you to get what they want. Having non complicated interactions with someone that you can GENUINELY TRUST, is something so rare.

I feel for everyone here. I too, thought I would be single for the rest of my life, but finally found someone in my late 40s. If it can happen to me, its possible for anyone. Secondly...wait is that a real Sydney Claudel sighting???

I’ve been single my whole life never had a girlfriend or any kind of romantic relationship but I’m not lonely, I have friends. I have HX and I met some nice people here so I’m content with that. I hope you find happiness whatever it looks like.

What can we do about this.
I guess what I secretly fantasize about is every single hx that comes through the door could possibly be a serious boyfriend or husband.
Then, usually reality sets in. But I never know!

I kinda think I'm cursed to be alone. To be honest, it would be nice to ride into the sunset with a dedicated life partner.

Why be in a relationship when you can pretend to have a boyfriend/girlfriend for an hour or two every day
The last time that i tried to date someone he got my name tattoed on the side of his face after 2 weeks of us talking (sadly hes not the first one thats done that) . I always attract obsessive men and idk Ive had PTSD ever since lmfao
Jaden.. same ! though my soulmate isnt on any of these kinds of sites, it is fun letting your imagination run wild, as long as you bring it back to reality.... technically all of my regulars are my husbands and their regulars are my sister wives hahaha

Someone asked if I had a boyfriend , I said I have alot of boyfriends.

And I have a lot of GF (Hx). Like the scene from Good Fellas
In the scene Joe Pesci's character Tommy and his mom played by Catherine Scorcese (yes, Marty's mom) discuss him not getting maried:
Tommy's Mother: Why don't you get yourself a nice girl?
Tommy DeVito: I get a nice one almost every night, Ma.
Tommy's Mother: Yeah, but get yourself a girl so you could settle down.
Tommy DeVito: I settle down almost every night but then, in the morning, I'm free

I didn't realize that you had lost your husband/mate. So very sorry, Colleen. That has to be so hard for you. My heart truly goes out to you. As for being single, when your heart and energy are ready for the next great loving adventure of your life, the offers and suitors will come in spades. Sending love.

I always go back to the Robin Williams movie quote
“I used to think that the worst thing in life was to end up alone. It's not. The worst thing in life is to end up with people who make you feel alone.”

The question is, Are you going to live long enough to live forever? Those familiar with the Singularity know what I'm talking about
