Agreed. Very sad day. Lost another founder of the greatest counter culture band. RIP.

|
His ability to play “lead” bass is unparalleled. First saw the Dead in the mid-70’s, probably saw them close to 2 dozen times before Jerry died. There will never be another band like them.

I knew him personally. Very sad.

Pig Pen, Kieth, Brent, Jerry, Vince, and now Phil. The Music Never Stops.
|
|
|
Phil wasn't the most recognized member of the band, but he led them from being a jug band to being a jam band.

Huge fan here. Went to Dead Shows from the mid 70's back East till Jerry's passing. 100 shows total...
Phil will be sadly missed, a true legend. RIP my brother
What a long strange trip it's been

The bus came by and I got on, that's when it all began.
RIP Bobby

^^^ Yeah Bob Weir died on the 10th
Is that all of the band members?
|
|
|
We have lost Jerry, Bob, Phil, Brent, Donna, Keith, and Pigpen.
Drummers Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann are still with us.
Can you imagine the jam sessions that are going on in heaven right now?
What a long strange trip it's been...

One of the best concerts I remember very little about, so it must’ve been incredible.

And Vince

|
Tom Constanten is also still alive, though not in great health.
Though never a full member of the band Bruce Hornsby is still alive and did tour with them for a year and a half.
RIP Bobby
Two hundred plus total shows and never again with I be able to see a concert that I can even somehow consider to be The Dead. Though the Music Will Never Stop.
Three hundred year legacy will live on, Bob spoke it into existence.
