No I'm not looking to return 1 person short.
No it's not to scatter ashes.
If you must know my mom and I have been making memories since her cancer returned at the start of the year and 1 of the things we have done is to fill up bottles with 'good karma' items. Things such as our favorite monopoly game piece, a bracelet given us by someone we loved, basically things that brought us smile for whatever reason. We also put seashells, a few coins, and a $2 bill in each one. Topped it all off with a quick note explain pretty much what I just explained to you, signed and dated it and asked if the finder of the bottle would please email us and let us know where the bottle has traveled to reach them.
First round we threw off the pier in San Diego, that was on the 23rd of September. We got our first email the very next day and the way my mom's face lit up is something I'll never forget.
(2 those of you who think it washed back up into the shore-- your wrong! It was actually found floating a few miles off shore by a gentleman out fishing with his 2 nephew. ) a few days later we got our 2nd response. Again it brought my mom so much joy!
The second round we threw from a pier somewhere on the coast near Pismo Beach.
We are looking to do a round 3 and I thought it would be nice if we could go a little further out than what the pier gives us access to.

Mom has to recover first. Had surgery to remove the colon cancer in Friday. It went well but she still needs time to heal before we can do much.
Just trying to line a few things up so she has something to look forward to. It's hard fighting cancer, it takes your will to live so any chance I get to occupy her mind- I take it .

You are a Gem for doing this with your Mom, I know she appreciates you.
It’s tough watching your loved one go through something like this and with it being your Mom I want to encourage you to have grace on your mental, do not overwhelm yourself and continue to stay as strong and humble as possible, especially if you’re the only one helping.

That is so awesome. When my sister was on hospice I tried to make her last days happy. I wanted to do so much but she didn't always feel well.
I hope your mom recovers and you can continue to have such a beautiful relationship.
