We were independent for exactly 7 years. We sold ourselves back to England, bank of England to be exact, under Rothschild to pay for the debt incurred by the war, in 1789. Been under the crown ever since. Even back then we were to stupid to understand what we had been given and to pay our debt. That is why we pay taxes, we are under England and they demand it, wait isn't that one of the reasons we declared our independence in the first place???
