If someone on the site says they're an HX owner or mod, send in a help ticket to the site and report them.
If someone is claiming to have an HX handle and they can't confirm via PM that they are who they say they are, PM me with the handle they're trying to use and their phone number.

No. it's not TOS. Nothing wrong with reminding people about what's been said.

Why would you want to give them your phone number if they couldn't afford to pm you??

Bumping this blog that has been pinned to the top of Townhall (the public blogging section specifically for "CRITICAL issues regarding community safety.") for years.
There are serial predators who stalk HX profiles to take advantage of people who are not thorough in their screening process. Here is their Modus Operandi: - Look at profiles, photo albums, blogs and classifieds to find people who post their phone numbers
- Text them claiming to be a profile on HX and hope they don't do their due diligence to confirm
- Set up a meeting and commit crimes including passing fake money, slipping something in their drink, assaulting them, rape, stealing their property, etc.
- The survivor then tries to report the crime(s) to the community only to find out they were tricked and have no idea who the person in the room actually was.
There are a few things you can do to keep yourself and the community safe from predators like this- Women should do the following when they receive a text from an unknown number:
- Request a PM before any more text communication
- If you don't receive a PM from the person texting, or they claim they can't send one at the moment, you should search for the profile they claim to be and send them a PM asking if they are the person texting from whatever phone number
EXAMPLE:
Hello. Did you just text me from phone number 714-555-1234? If you are unable to respond to PMs, please edit your profile and add my name to the "I'd Like to Meet" section and then text me back the code phrase "Never Gonna Give You Up"
NOTE: Change the code phrase EVERY TIME - DO NOT ENGAGE FURTHER with the person texting until they comply.
- All HX men should add something like this to their profile page:
I will always send a PM before texting. If you receive a text from someone claiming to be me, but did not receive a PM from me, it is an imposter trying to take advantage of you. - For your own safety, you should always maintain ability to use Mail features of HX. It costs less than 14 cents a day if you purchase 90 days at a time. Or if you only log on occasionally and want to unlock just 1, 3, or 7 days, it costs less than 40 cents a day. This is a no brainer on keeping yourself safe.
Stay safe everyone!
