Jay Leno Law 2.0 Senate Bill 1392

For those of us that own at least 1 classic car, I know some of you have multiple classic cars there is a new smog exemption law proceeding nicely through the California Assembly and Senate. It failed once before hence the 2.0 designation .

The gist of the law so far is this. 1. Vehicle must be at least 35 years old. 2. Must be insured as a collector vehicle 3. Limited to 1,000 miles a year.

If passed it will apply to pre 1981 vehicle however, there will be a rolling extension till the year 2032 meaning next year the law will apply to pre 1982 vehicles and so on and so forth.

So for those of you that still have that Pinto, Vega, Gremlin, Pacer, Hornet or the ultra classic Opel GT hoping to stuff that LS motor in it well there is still hope.

Keep your fingers crossed

Do you know the requirements for proving "used primarily for historical exhibitions, parades, or club activities"?

I can’t picture picture anyone on my hood although I would definitely like to, its fiberglass and would break

To answer the parade/ show question that is where the 1000 mile a year limitation comes into play.
We are lucky the first version didn’t pass you’d barely be able to take your car out of the garage .
