Every 3 months is standard, at least every 6 months is a must! (for me)
Its true not everyone can take preventative meds, they can throw off natural systems within the body.
But that's not the end of the road at all..
There are so many resources!!! If anyone feels like they can't get what they need please know that's not true and reach out!
You're a gem DL good for you xo

Absolutely correct about one’s body becoming resistant to improper/over use of antibiotics especially in the SDT/STI arena. I’ve been on so many different antibiotics the over the last year because of all the medical procedures I’ve had for my cancer, I can’t pronounce the name of half of them. One thing I’ve noticed however, is that I have never received the same antibiotics back to back for the exact reason of developing a resistance to it.
Good advice Madam OP

regarding antibiotic resistance:
the doctor i spoke with said the risk of not taking them is higher than the risk of resistance or superbugs.

not to mention that they make you feel like crap!
I have had my share of health issues that are out of my control, and now am down to a bi weekly treatment. yay! The meds take a toll on me psychically, and mentally.
Feeling like crap, sucks!
That is part of the reason I a so pro-testing! Its one thing you can somewhat control!
You make an effort to check in on yourself, that takes care of you and you know you did your part when it comes to this community.
Safety is not an accident!

As a provider 2x a month if not once a week. Im a hobbyist and do so 2 x a month.

Sometimes, a big is so strong that one course of antibiotic treatment is not enough.
I know someone who came down with nasal infection (related to chronic allergy).
Amoxicillin led to augmentin, zithromycin, and so forth ..
Person now has bronchitis. Possibly pneumonia.
Each antibiotic helps a little, and when the bottle is empty,
The symptoms get more severe.
I'm glad I don't get ill like that. Lucky me.
Will they recover soon?

I was taking prep daily and my kidneys started to fail. My primary doc did tests and told me that I had stage 3 kidney disease and I was SOOOOO confused. Thank God for insurance but long story short after I stopped taking it everything was fine.
Just made my appt. for a full panel for Thursday and also added the throat swab std test. Thank you for this reminder 🥰😘❤️ you're a gem.

Great Job!!

No tests are really confidential when a positive result comes up. By law they have to report you to the cdc so they can make sure you were treated and who you infected was treated so they need there names as well.
|
|
|
It's not for the public.
Well, its for data purposes, you identity if confidential your positive results is not.
Does that make sense?
They may ask you about your partners. That's up to you.
I believe there is a different protocol when it comes to syphilis.. but I cannot remember off the top of my head.
|
|
|
omg! sorry for the typos!
Your positive results would be used for data purposes.
Your identity is not.
|
|
|
As much as I hate needles, every 3 months is when I do it too. Always nice to see everything clean and my cholesterol slightly lower than last time. Lol
|
|
|
unless you're monogamous (exclusive partners) test results are essentially worthless.
it's a scam built on ignorance of "biology".
they are valid only as of your most recent partner.
if you "sleep around"?
you can flush test results down the toilet.
|
|
|
Testing reduces STD spread for the same reason checking your brakes prevents crashes: you can’t fix a problem you don’t know is there.
|
|
|
Testing will always have a backwards looking effect and not tell you the full picture if you are sexually active with multiple partners. That said it IS useful and these days you can preserve your health if you find out and treat it.
I get tested every few months and it is never a bad thing. I would always wanna know. I don’t understand why being ignorant would be a good thing.
|
|
|
Exactly lol
Reminds me of someone that told me that they don't get tested because they never caught anything and I'm just like welllllll how the heck would you know if you don't get tested lol
Knowing your status is essential to everyone in this community.
Not sure why people are so ignorant about their safety and health but that kinda scares me especially coming from someone in their 60s and old enough to know better
|
|
|
Also if you aren't sleeping with everyone raw and get tested often you'd be able to know who you caught something from if it ever does happen ..
Last thing ... the test is not a protective shield
Some people will be like "I got tested 3 months ago" but don't tell you that they've slept with 8 people raw since then and the test is technically void lol

|
love that nurufiji cant go a day without sex

@Johnnie.Rudolph
The tests are not so you can point the finger at anyone.
It's to make sure that you're okay, and if you're not, that you get treated.
It also gives you a chance to tell your partner (or partners) that you have a positive test, so they can also be tested and treated .
Hopefully stop spreading.
Some infections can be asymptomatic or silent, meaning you can carry them for a long time with no noticeable symptoms.
Also, a lot of people here have S/O, right?
And there are a lot of people who cater to those who ask for higher risk activities.
So, next time you're up to bat, even if you don't engage in higher risk activities , doesn't mean the last person didn't. And that puts you at risk. Its' a cycle.
IMO getting tested every week doesn't make sense, as it takes awhile for things to... incubate?? Is that the right word??
But if it makes you feel better and you have a place or practitioner willing, go for it.
Again, not telling anyone what to do with their body.
Just trying to share options.
Hope that made sense.

I've been going every 3 weeks since I joined the site. I just went on Friday. I'm always safe but this is for sure the most active I've ever been.
If you're in LA, AHF on Western Ave has a free walk-in clinic. Tuesday through Saturday and they are open late. They also offer Prep for free. I've never inquired about it though. I have insurance however, this is much easier and more convenient. You can go as often as you want. Results usually take 2-3 days. If you are a girl, like me, the process is much faster. I'm usually in and out in 15 minutes, even when it's busy. I've been getting tested here for as long as I can remember. Easy peasy.

“I’m your Daddy” is the best comeback for Lou!
Ladies I have something to warn you about….You know our bodies are not really meant for bending like a pretzel, and that pounding that we seem to like a little more than we should…Turns out, there is a significant amount of damage that can occur. For example. You know the lay your head off the side of the bed as you lick the “POP”sicle trick you do can actually cause your spine to curve the opposite of how it should. Also, you can cause nerve issues along your spinal cord that will cause numbness and pain in your hands and arms….you have 2 choices at that point. Surgery or constant pain. Some say there is a 3rd option but like NuruFiji that 3 rd option is not an option at alll.
So next time your brain is knocking on that headboard you might want to hop on top to protect your spine.
It is not fun to deal with, it has been a problem for me for about 5 months…..
Fella’s I know we ask for it like that but for the sake of our spines go a tad bit easier. We don’t want to be a community of Hunchback bitches.
Oh and get tested….it is what the cool kids do. And you want to be a COOL kid!

Addison you hit the nail on the head, you couldn’t be more right! My body has taken a beaten throughout my “career” for lack of better words. My spine feels so compressed I’ve seriously considered traction. I have a Teeter chair that I turn upside down in because it’s the only thing that gives me some sort of relief from the pain & tingling numbness that I suffer from particularly in my right arm, hand & 3 fingers. I’ve avoided taking pain killers as I don’t want to develop an opioid addiction. I’ve been dealing with this bullshit on & off for the last 6 years! It’s debilitating at times. I can’t grip onto shit. My penmanship sucks as it’s barely legible, and I can’t even button up a shirt unless I want to aggravate myself any further for 10 minutes trying. And the older we get the more fragile our bodies become. Not to mention when we do sustain an injury, it takes a bit longer to heal than when we were in our 20’s & 30’s. I remember in my heyday I could easily take on 5 dates a day, give or take a few more depending on my schedule. Some fs & some just b&g’s. Fast forward to the present & I’m done and call it a day after my second date leaves. I’m throwing in the towel & just want to crawl back into bed and sleep it off because my body feels spent! I guess this is what you’d call as an occupational hazard… Every job has them I suppose.
Ironically enough & the good thing is I don’t feel any pain at all while having sex because it feels so f***ing good!!! It’s only after the deed is done when I feel the effects of the relentless pounding. I’m afraid if I don’t retire soon I may find my crippled ass confined to a Hoover Round or one of those Jazzy Chairs that old people schlep around town in. Or maybe you guys can take heed of this information and perhaps go a little bit more easier on us seeings how we are not machines but merely just fragile human beings.
THANK YOU MS.PARKER FOR BRINGING THIS SUBJECT TO LIGHT & TO DAHLIA FOR GETTING IT STARTED! (even though it’s a little off subject of the OP, it still has to do with our health & safety)… And that’s all the really matters here!
Be safe all… And let’s carry on, as there’s a lot more fun to be had! ❤️

Got tested aaaaand clean as a whistle 😗
Really Rudolph?
As long as you’re having sex, testing is essential to keep up to date with your health. No different than going to the doctor for a check up. Nothing like a peace of mind.
|
|

I’m serious about taking the right protection. The clean tests are evidence that it’s been the right behavior.
Early detection is helpful in may STDs because basically all are treatable (to varying degrees).
If someday I ended up with an undesired test result, frequent tests would make it easy to reach out to any new partners - one of whom would clearly have a problem as well. Testing truly prevents spread.

I think I might start that Club and not sure if FX points are required for that, but until Walmart and Home Depot ecards can solve their issues, I can't buy anything.

I am all for testing. If you think you're safe because you got tested 90 days ago, you're kidding yourself. So you got tested 90 days ago. You catch something 30 days later. For the next 60 days, you fucking and doing bare oral and spreading whatever you caught. So the test results only mean anything if you haven't fucked or got a BBBJ since you took the test, which came back negative.
