Are you certain it wasnt a "background check"? It checks criminal records, etc. Who was your former employer? A hotel, i.e. private business? A public pool, i.e. local government like Clark County? Private vs Government employers are subject to different limitations/standards under Nevada Labor Code

it's hard for females with a porn history to get regular jobs. tiffany six was fired for having a porn history. this was in california too which is supposedly liberal. not sure if she ever sued for job discrimination. might need to talk to a lawyer but that's gonna cost money unfortunately. the other route is real estate. you basically are you own boss

Credit checks have been the basis of employment decisions for a while now. At least in California. If your credit is bad it definitely affects your ability to find employment in any field where trust and accountability with regard to money is warranted. Like if you have the ability to approve disbursements or handle receivables or cash and you have bad credit…don’t be surprised if you don’t get the job.
Also your online presence is a big issue now. It’s why I will never work in private industry again.

It could also be the tattoos and your age. I have a family member that works as a life guard in the city we live in. Most of their co-workers are teens or in their early 20’s. They are also all very clean cut and professional in appearance.
I have tattoos also, but I am aware of the fact that visible tattoos make it harder to get hired for most jobs.

I can see both sides but it seems harsh to me.. but also im not hiring.

I think California & Nevada (not sure where you are) made it illegal to check credit when considering a person employment. So if they are saying it is because of your credit, they are admitting to doing that. Maybe you should look into those laws.

NV

Gaming Industry: Employees of licensed gaming establishments are often subject to credit checks.
FCRA Compliance: Under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), employers must get written consent, inform you in a standalone document, and provide a copy of the report before taking any adverse action.
Prohibition on Refusal: Employers cannot take adverse action against a candidate simply because they refused to provide a credit report.
If an employer intends to deny a job based on your credit report, they must provide you with a copy of the report and a summary of your rights.
So it sounds to me like they wronged you..
Did they get your permission to check your credit?
Was this job at a casino? That could be their loop hole. Which I think is improper use of that exception. As a lifeguard is not a gaming position.

Thankfully, I’ve grown into a more positive person, and I truly owe that to the people of Orange County. I learned by observing their behavior, and it became a major reason I was able to excel in my job. Before that, I didn’t know any better ... i came across as arrogant and rude without even realizing it.
I’ve learned that being kind and polite is a form of class and staying calm while openly communicating to solve problems is a sign of maturity. I don’t think these qualities always come naturally tho.I think they require self relection and recognizing when you fall short and then actually making a conscious effort to change. At first, it takes real major dedication. You have to go against your instincts and choose a better response over and over, again and again until eventually it becomes second nature.
It’s a beautiful transformation. Embracing this mindset in my daily life has opened doors I never would’ve had access to before. Unfortunately there are always going to be people who don’t support you and sometimes it comes from jealousy. But I don’t live to make others feel that way. I just focus on doing my best each day... sometimes I still have moments where my vegas attitude may show a little but I'm still working on being better every day.

What's the actual point of insulting someone? Like what is it that one hopes to achieve by throwing an insult? Depending on what state you’re in, most don’t have to have a just cause
for termination. Proving discrimination as in your case would be extremely difficult. Just my 2 cents. Good luck.

Exactly. They can deny you or terminate you for pretty much any reason. If they get sued, they just have to come up with a some kind of excuse that looks reasonable. It doesn’t actually have to be the excuse.
I have a friend who works in forensic IT. His entire job is to go through the emails and digital footprints of any employees that the company decides that they want to build a case against. He literally put together a whole portfolio of emails and communication, communications, and any examples digitally that would justify firing that person.
That literally does not mean that the reason that they provided is the reason they got fired, but it’s the reason they’re going to use to justify the person being fired
This shit happens all the time. They might say that it’s your credit that came back, but it could be that they found your porn site.

Hey girl,
I was wrongfully terminated...had literal video evidence of it...and highly incriminating information of fraud against my employer and it was still nearly impossible to sue.
I am HIGHLY litigious and that was not my first rodeo. I can tell you right now suing is HARD unless you have a shit ton of money to start with. Or one of the most expensive or compelling cases in the area or world (then they take it on a no money 60/40 split or something like that). The justice system is just that fucked. And biased. And flawed. Or whatever but you will never fix it, you can only control your own narrative and where you go from here.
I am in litigation now finally against this employer cause I found a labor lawyer who found a LOT of unpaid stuff: overtime (which she was not even allowed to do with me), vacation, breaks, lunches. It was A LOT of money. And I was surprised, that was not even my original grievance, I wanted the bitch crucified for other shit. I just had no clue cause most of us do not know our labor rights.
No clue if I will win this is a long process, but at least I am finally here.
I say all of this to just let you know this is not an easy thing to do, do not let anyone tell you different. That and it is sure as shit not a guarantee but what you want to pursue because of the industry, is almost a for sure no. I have been there with some compelling shit and was humbled quick. It hurt.
However, that does not mean from a labor perspective there is not stuff there. So tread carefully with some realistic goals, but I might look into a labor lawyer and see if you have any things there outside of the original upset in case there is something there.
