Gaslamp (Downtown SD) has a TON of bars and clubs, all types.
I like going to the Smoking Gun. Its a bar with a video games, pool and other amusements. Mixed crowd of people too.
There is also Pacific Beach.
Big night life scene
Miramar Blvd has a bunch of breweries if you are into that sort of thing,
