California does it again Bans Glocks
Oct 22 2025 08:57AM more by SmartK9
Tags: Inland Empire , Random (All tags)

Recently “our” Governor signed legislation that on July 1st 2026 the sale of NEW Glock handguns in California to common, law abiding citizens is prohibited. Now if you currently have a Glock you are not impacted by this and anyone on the Law enforcement community can still purchase them.

The reason for this is Glock uses a “striker bar” which hits a spring loaded firing pin as opposed to standard firing pin which is struck by the weapons hammer. Apparently the striker bar type can be easily converted to fully automatic with the purchase of some simple aftermarket parts. So the prohibited not only affects Glocks.

Apparently Glock is changing the internals of their new firearms so this conversion won’t be possible.

So how does this impact those of us who happen to own or like Glocks? Well first off the value of your Glock just increased. Second you can still purchase ANY used Glock from a private party. If you are in the Law Enforcement Community well this does NOT affect you.

So if you are in the market for a NEW Glock you have until July 1, 2026. I suggest to act now to avoid the expected price gouging this law is gonna bring.

Support the 2nd!

Thanks for posting, I haven't been keeping up.

Dunno if this is a smart.... or a dumb move on his part if he has national ambitions.

Ok let’s get into the real reason this statute was enacted. Newsome doesn’t like Glocks because they won’t conform with California’s onerous weapon safety requirements. Glock hasn’t really changed its fundamental design for years( if it ain’t broke don’t fix it)however, it has made different versions of their firearms. Gen 3 Glock are currently available for sale in California(till July 2026)however new versions Gen 4, 5 etc have never been available for common citizens in California because Glock refuses to comply with all the really unnecessary safety measures.. What makes no sense to any of this is you can buy ANY USED version of Glocks or LEO can purchase them. So because Gen 3 Glocks were being sold in California before the safety regulations California couldn’t stop Glock from producing the older version and continue to sell it new in California until July 2026.

Now why this is really a nonsensical statute? California and Federal statutes both ban fully automatic firearms and you can’t even possess parts to convert any firearm to fully automatic.

If anyone has ever tried to fire a fully automatic small pistol (not a machine pistol like a Mini or Micro Uzi), you'd know this is silly. You couldn't hit the side of a barn fro 50 feet after the first round!

Glock just announced a new model and plans to retire Gen 3-5. Word is they’re already working on a CA Conpliant version of the next gen model and it should be ready for CADOJ approval in 2026.

Smh, 2nd Amendment was ratified in 1791. A semi-auto that can become full auto very easily is dangerous. There's plenty to choose from on the ca hangun roster, and plenty of time to buy a Glock, they're cheap $500.

yellowB2....

You do know that probably 90% of the legislators in California who pass these laws do not own a gun and may have never fired any type of weapon, whether a hand-gun or rifle.

So, they don't know shit about what they are talking about. It sounds good and they jump up and down saying they will be resolved gun violence.

Of course, if you look nationally, that number rises quickly, since other states are not as stupid as CA. I think our current legislature (House and Senate) have over 100 gun owners. Of course, that includes all of the red state politicians.

@SmartK9 - I am sorry but you are incorrect on one part. After the ban goes into place you cannot private party sell / transfer your Glock or buy a used one. Same process. As the Assembly Bill 1127 states "This bill would prohibit a licensed firearms dealer to sell, offer for sale, exchange, give, transfer, or deliver any semiautomatic convertible pistol, except as specified."

As all private party sales have to go through a FFL already. This would prohibit the Private Party Sale / Transfer.

The term I am curious about is the "GIVE" part as a Intra-familial transfer, Grandparent or Parent to Child bypasses the Roster and does not require a FFL Transfer. They love making super vague verbage.

The other Bill's he signed that day are either just as dumb or even scarier.

Assembly Bill 1078 - makes several provisions to Californias firearm laws, most notably, limiting residents to three firearm purchases within a 30-day period. California previously enacted a one-gun-a-month law, which a U.S. District Court struck down as unconstitutional.

Assembly Bill 1263 - creates a new crime for knowingly or willfully causing another person to unlawfully manufacture a firearm. What the H E Double Hockey sticks does that mean?

Senate Bill 704 - requires firearm barrels to be sold or transferred only through licensed dealers and with a background check. Currently we need to register the serial numbered part, usually lower. We also need to do background check for ammo purchases, *PSST* They are keeping track *COUGH*.

So they just keep widdling away at us, Bill by Bill.

You can ban the sale of every gun under the sun & there will still be millions owned. That 'zero guns' idea left the barn and can't come back.

Who needs an full auto?

Let me address that indirectly.
The folks that are left of center traditionally have been less supportive of the second amendment than those on the right side of the political isle.

Now that Trump is in office, and sending ICE agents out, sending national guard troops to Portland, Chicago etc, now, all of a sudden, you see much more support of the ability for citizenry to be able to defend themselves, with many politicians wanting to out law enforcement identity, tracking their movements, and some to 'defend' themselves by shooting LE.

to my knowledge, only Fetterman (senator, Penn) has refused to call Trump Hitler & a fascist.
Pretty much every other Democrat has called Trump a threat to democracy.

Some politicians have (indirectly) praised the assassination attempts of Trump & the real assassination of Charlie Kirk.

With that as context - you do the math.

It's nice to see the left support the second amendment, I'm on the other side of the political isle & I find their rhetoric deplorable (if you forgive the expression).

I could go on, but I hope you got the meaning.
