In Windows and ChromeOS you can also just open a photo in your browser or default editor, make the window the size you want and do a screen capture/snip.(they allow you to crop and capture just what you want too). It will usually knock the file size way down and is a built-in - easy peezy. I'm not familiar with the Mac app but I'm sure its the same.

oh, didn't catch the multi-file ask, the capture only works on single files, but some of y'all could really use it. LoL

Thanks Gang!
From a tip, I am trying and living Fotosizer so far....
I just click & drag 50 photo files and BOOM! they're resized on my PC.
Huge time saver.

You can also use https://justxfans.com/photo-compressor/
It is free and does batch.
I also have a watermark script available. I was commissioned to create the apps and I am offering them free for the community.
I am currently in the process of getting some more scripts up to help the community.
I also have a booking script made exclusively for HX, but that is more for providers and managers.
