When my car did that I had to push the power/volume button and hold it down until the screen restarted
Your best bed is to just go to the dealer
“Your best bed”… what’s on your mind this morning?
I’d do what June said about seeing how to turn your radio screen back on. It could be that simple if everything else is working.
YouTube would be the first place to check 👍🏻
Or, your autocorrect knows you well.
June I wouldn’t mind being in bed with you!
Yeah I tired holding the power button, when I do the lights for the ac flash 😫
Also after attending YouTube university , I tried the suggestions. Except one…. Disconnecting the battery.
I don’t know how to do that, I’ll have to attend more university courses to learn 😫

To disconnect the battery you will need a 12 or 13 mm open ended wrench to undo the terminal bolt then remove the cable from the terminal for at least 10 seconds then reattach and tighten
Also how old is the battery ? If 4 or 5 years old it may need a new one. But since it still starts the screen should still work. I kind of doubt disconnecting the battery will fix it, but it's worth a try.
Isn't it really a 5/16ths wrench ? Tip use the box end side of the wrench, prevents rounding the bolt head.

Disconnecting the battery resets the computer on many vehicles, which could very well solve your problem.
Many Autozone employees help disconnecting batteries to test or recharge them in the store, and I wouldn't be surprised if you asked someone they would gladly assist you.
I know I would...

It could be a bad battery. Go get the battery checked, at worse it’s the altinator.
Battery is about a year old.
I did the on star button suggestion, along with the hang up call on my steering wheel suggestion.
And all I see is other lights flash- like my ac lights flash or the onstar light.
So there is some sort of connection happening just not all the way
I was trying to avoid disconnecting my battery myself, so thank you for the auto zone suggestion.

My alternator !????? Please don’t scare meeeee
what year and model is your car? Alternators can be checked by Autozone guy also.
the same happened to me and no mechanic could figure it out. I had to buy another car lmao
You guys are scaring me!
When I was on YouTube it something that they said was common from jump starting the car.
2016 Chevy equinox
I’m going to go to autozone during my lunch and see if I can get someone to help me.
The title of this blog should be the name of a movie.
so the car starts but your radio/screen is not turning on?
Sounds like disconnecting/reconnecting the battery is the next step, in order to the reset the system as someone else said. If that still doesn't work, then see if there is a way to reset the system as well. I would try to avoid the dealer unless you have no other options.
Everything is working but the screen… and no sound obviously.
I go to lunch at noon, wish me luck at autozone
Do the red positive cable.
Do not let the wrench touch any metal objects, other then the cable nut.
I hope that works.
I would come help you out. But, you're all the way out in the IE. Best of luck.
I’m in San Diego until 4pm
Went to autozone , wanted to smack the guy he was like we help but sorry no one is at the front with me, all the while I hear other employees answering the phone and looking things up in the back.
I have to work , then getting on the road, so I will just have to try tomorrow morning

🎛️ 1. Try a Soft Reset
• Turn the vehicle completely off.
• Open the driver’s door and leave it open for 2–3 minutes.
• Close the door and turn the ignition to “ON” (but don’t start the engine).
• See if the screen powers up.
🔌 2. Check the Fuses
• Locate the fuse box under the hood and the one inside the cabin (passenger side).
• Look for the Radio / Infotainment / Display fuses and check if any are blown.
If that doesn’t work, then try a hard reset, disconnecting the negative (ground)(black) terminal on your battery for 15 minutes or so.
Lifesaver, why can’t you be my neighbor? lol
I will try the door situation.
I’m thinking I need to do the battery disconnection
The door reset did not work…
Getting on the road to sin city. If you’re in the IE and can help let me know.
If not tomorrow I’ll be at autozone oRiley’s something

An auto electric shop is what you need.

In the past my Honda CRV radio locked up and had to enter security code; located on side of glovebox. It may be something similar; Youtube is great source of help. Good Luck!!
Yogi someone else told me that.
I will start with the battery disconnection
I'd help you in a heartbeat Nat. Where you at?

Unplug the battery you can just do the negative one and it should reset the ECU. There should also be a way to reset the screen or radio I know for my car it's pressing the on button for 10 seconds.

More and more recently I've heard of entertainment (stereo, nav) systems hanging on software updates and killing batteries. I have experienced it on 2 vehicles and there are a lot of reports on the same. So it might be your stereo is what killed your battery to begin with, and yes, do the battery disconnect. It's not hard and its easily found online - or just get help with it.

Okay result from autozone.
Young young guy lol he only tested my battery … back story I just got the battery a year ago from AAA.
Well it’s a bad battery. I am going to be calling AAA once I’m home to come replace. Thank god for warranty!
I've had my truck 2 months, and still can't figure out the entertainment system.

A lot of things can kill a battery! A bad alternator being one of them.
Girl I went round & round with my son's (my kids are adopted before people start "this math ain't mathing") damn car replacing the battery - then the alternator, fuses and all this damn shit just to have it wind up being some random issue with that particular year/model of Honda that was resolved with a YouTube video.
What i would recommend HIGHLY if the new battery doesn't work to resolve this, YouTube that shit. Some backyard mechanic out of the kindness of his heart probably ran into the same shit with your model/year and has some off handed way of fixing it without the dealer.
FYI- since its the infotainment center seeming to have the issue, the difference between Lexus & Volvo in reliability is huge... and can almost certainly be summed up to issues with their Samsung/entertainment console,/ whatever you want to call ems for years on end. Went with a base model Toyota for this reason. Less electronics = less shit to fuck up.
Some brands have serious kinks when it comes to the more sophisticated electronics components, that need to be resolved with software updates or hardware replacements.
Depending on the model, make, year and who you bought it from... call the manufacturer. A Google of your model year and your particular issue might also be revealing. Sometimes they will discount or repair for free (don't call the dealership, they're dicks who sell maintenance disguised as a car lot. Call the manufacturer) Say I'm experiencing XYZ issue and what is being done to remedy consumers like myself? A little suave might get you some answers or even a free update have had some luck in the past.
And lastly... if none of that works, and its coming down to a hardware/software update replacement you're basically forced to go to the dealer for.
FUCK THE DAMN DEALER
Go to a 3rd party installation place about upgrading your infotainment center you can get a brand new snazzy sumnabitch installed for about the same price or less as the old one you have getting fixed at the dealership sometimes... JS.
Sorry. Dealership will try to do anything and everything to rip you off. Tried to charge me $150+ to replace my air filters... took about 30 seconds to do myself at home and under 40 for the filter. They are criminal.

Lifesaver already posted the youtube fix.

Random is there any car salesman on here? Please pm if you are
Yayyyy thank you to each and everyone of you!!!
AAA just left. They tested it; it was a bad battery. He also said it was the wrong size.
But replaced, and my screen is on. 😁
He did suggest I change the connector (idk if that is the technical term) I attached the pic.
I gotta find some help with that

I had s windshield crack on my Subaru Outback. Damn rock hit it following a gravel truck that was supposedly empty and not covered
I went to the dealer who wanted to charge me $2400 to replace the windshield and calibrate the camera . And for the windshield swap they outsourced it anyway. I called my insurance who directed me to their windshield shop. I paid my $250 deductible plus $100 for OEM windshield. And the windshield shop calibrated the camera no extra charge. Yes Helena. Fuck the dealer!!
I can change the connector for you… but I’m in Long Beach lol.. 😂
A wire brush should clean that connector. But you have to disconnect the battery first 😄
I’m handy 😜
But not when it comes to cars, besides basic stuff lol

Also to keep corrosion from building up on the terminals, spray some chain lube on them. WD-40 works but it's not thick enough. Any thick ish oil will do. The idea is to keep air from getting to the metal cause that's how corrosion starts building up on them.
ps the battery I bought during Covid only lasted 2 years, should have been 4, Walmart gave me another for free.
AAA, cheapest insurance money can buy. Glad you got it fixed.
.
Also if it were me I'd leave the connecter / terminal alone and just spray the oil on it. Now that I look at the pic.
I can see where the corrosion from the past has eaten away the metal. A new one just looks pretty.

The info system update issue will kill a brand new battery overnight, so if it happens again be aware.
And most times a battery test, and a lot of Smart Chargers, will tell you the battery is bad (bad cells) even if just days old, but it can be revived with a "less smart" charger. I don't even know how many batteries I maintain these days so I have several chargers and have too much experience here. Although that might not help your situations it's always good to know.
A baking soda water solution will take care of the corrosion.
After that, a file and a wire brush to clean it properly
Af has a good idea after it is done.
When pennies were copper, we used to place one by the terminals
What type of car is for? I can probably help. I have had similar issues that I resolved.
I was charging my phone on idle, didn’t have the engine running, I killed my battery.
Thank you for AAA.
The guy did state I had the wrong size of battery in, so not sure if that played a part in how fast it died.
He also said “this is a slightly bigger job going to cost $40”
But when I went to pay with my card … he asked for cash, then realized he just wanted a tip.
lol I didn’t care it was fixed. But is for sure hard to believe anyone
Glad to hear you got it fixed.
