Did you get the owner's contact details?
This could be a very easy win for you/personal injury lawyer.
I second that! You might as well try to.
100% get an attorney and you will likely win, dog bites are 100% strict liabilty for the owners. They should have homeowners insurance to pay the hospital, ER and RX bills plus some money for the lawyers and personal injury.
Good luck.

Ooouch!!!
Did you break up a dog fight or something ??
Anyways glad you're okay.
So sorry to hear girly , that I went through something similar trying to break up a fight … and had to have a partial amputee on my pinky (you can’t tell now) … it’s difficult trying to recover from that and not being able to use your hands freely I’m wishing you a speedy recovery ❤️🩹 and some abundance from all of this

You don’t need your hands for your profession
Glad you're okay! So sorry to hear what happened...... definitely look into representation. No need for you to incur those type of expenses without reimbursement!
What would suck is if the dog is owned by a friend or family member.
I’m sorry, but we’re going to have to put you down.
I like less hands anyway 😛
Get well soon 💪

Hmmm. What did you do to it cause they are typically not aggressive dogs. Protective tho! And don’t trust everyone who says they are a lawyer. lol cause on personal injury court, a guy got bit but also was the aggressor and lost case cause he was found 51% liable. Make sure you get the right scumbag I mean lawyer.

Without a report to the police & animal control?
No case.
OP hasn't responded, hope she's doing ok.
Lol @ Rattpack31.
OP dinged you on 6/10.
Now you're hitting on me?
Dude give up.
No one suggested rabies shots?
I would recommend reaching out to your local animal control filing a bite report. The dog would need to enter a 10 day quarantine period. Likelihood of rabies is not great but you never know
Please see an MD who knows how to treat bite wounds.
Dog oral cavities carry anaerobic bacteria which need to be treated specifically in a human. You dont want to get a deep skin infection from this (cellulitis).
Please dont cut corners here.

Neither the lack of a police report nor lack of an animal control report is fatal to your case. (Helpful to have, but not critical.)
The biggest issue is that you promptly seek appropriate medical care, take pictures documenting the injury, and reach out to a qualified PI attorney - not a billboard or bus advertised one!
After that, the biggest issue will be who owned the dog - and whether they have insurance. If it was owned by a homeowner, you are in good shape. If they were a renter, 50/50 chance they had renter's insurance. If they were a renter, getting the landlord on the hook is possible if there are documented prior incidents, unfortunately, that doesn't happen very often.
Contact me if you'd like to discuss it further.

Just had a friend that got victimized like that, but from the other side of the problem.
She is at a park and has her 50 lb dog off leash, but they did that every day without problem or incident.
A little boy, maybe 5 years old, runs up to the dog then turns around and runs away. Dog does what dogs do best, chase! When the dog caught up to the boy he tried to nip him in the butt (a playful nip, not a rightous bite). Left a mark but didn't even break skin.
Mother of the boy is all apologetic for letting her son run at the dog like that.
A couple of days latter my friend gets a notice that the parents are suing her for 30K, citing emotional trauma, etc., etc.
My friend's homeowner insurance gets contacted by the other party and the insurance company pays the 30K without even investigating it very much, even after my friend said she wanted to fight it. Insurance company did not give her an option, they just paid it.
Then my friend gets a notice from the insurance company that if she does not get rid of the dog they will cancel her policy.
Moral of the story- in this litigous society something as simple as a simple little bite can lead to a significant payday.
Keep ALL of your medical records. Contact the dog's owner and demand her insurance information. If you have broken bones and lacerations that requried stiches, I see a 50K - 100K payday in your future! Try that first without getting a lawyer involved or they will snake 1/2 of whatever you end up getting. Only get the PI lawyer involved if the other party's insurance does not offer to settle right away.

And what is they dont have a home . And live with family or a apartmemt. You get nothing! No insurance.

Need to see pics ?

@Marissa_G, that is the problem with insurance. It is for profit, they decided it wasn't worth their time to fight it, but then stick it to the client who may have not been at fault. I don't necessarily believe that insurance should become run by the govt, but they need to be held way more accountable. And I don't mean how the dumbass Cali govt tries to do it.
@Marissa_G, your friend is totally at fault and now the dog is paying the price. There is a leash law in CA, dogs need to be on leash at all time in public. There is no excuse to let your dog run free in public place. I don't understand why most people think that their dogs aren't going to bite someone until they do.

Hey guys doing a lot better. Still stuck in the splint Dr said I am healing up well.
Will not be posting pictures the people who reached out have seen the trauma to my hand.
I will also not be suing as the dog belongs to one of my best friends
And who ever said “what did you do wrong” ^^^^ nothing. I did nothing wrong. Dog just got scared and defensive over another altercation. So you could have just shut up lol.
And dude who said “you don’t need your hands in your profession” I’d love to see you get bit by a German shepherd and go right back to everyday life. Dumbass
Thanks to everyone you reached out and offered kind words via DM
I’m back to work with minimal limitations

wishing you a speedy recovery 😘

Thanks babe 💋

Glad you are on the mend.
You can be a total dog person and have it happen.
Some dogs just have types of anxiety that can be triggered by even the most gentle person.
No need to 2nd guess it.
Get wellsoon.

You’re absolutely right!! And that is exactly what happened.
Thank you!!!!
You’re always kind to me ❤️❤️

I know from first hand experience… they will not stitch a dog bite.. they flush it and leave it open in case of rampant bacteria. Hope OP is ok
