No, just bring those things you put over your ears that say, "Bullshit Protector!"

Nah, you should be fine. But I'd stay out of the DT area.
|
|
|
I have friends who live in DTLA and the surrounding area.
It's been very quiet for the last several days. Police outnumber protestors 2 to 1.
Trump sending the Marines to LA is pure propaganda. He wants more power. Don't be deceived.
Note: There will be major No Kings protests this Saturday all over the country, including in LA. I would avoid DTLA just in case things flare up.

It’s fine, media hypes up a lot.

as long as you don't appear to be the kind of person ICE considers illegal you should be fine.

Protests and curfews have been almost exclusively near the federal building a block from city hall. The only hotel I can think of within a few blocks is the doubletree on Los Angeles and 2nd, adjacent to Little Tokyo.
If you are not within a few miles, life is totally normal and you wouldn't even realize anything is going on.
That said, as mentioned above there will be over a thousand No Kings protests across the country this Saturday, including over 2 dozen in the LA area and ~100 in Southern California. Go to NoKings dot org and search by your zip code.
Be smart and stay safe everyone.

Things are fine.
Well they are not fine! What is happening is disgusting, disturbing and heartbreaking.
There are protests, they are peaceful.
People are not ok. How could they be? This shit is horrible.
Be smart.
Be safe.
Try not to let your emotions rule your actions.
We don't have to agree on political views but, we all know the difference between right and wrong.
We are all human.
Be kind.
FUCK ICE!
|
|
|
Yeah, everybody is human....
But, FUCK ICE. That makes no sense, besides they are't the ones that came here illegally. It's Newsome and the mayor that won't cooperate with getting the criminal ones out so they go in to get them and then everyone there gets checked and low and behold, they are now collateral damage. If the govt here did what they are supposed to a lot who ICE wasn't looking for wouldn't be deported. On top of tyhat we now know many of the "protesters" are paid to be there. Paid a lot. It's a setup to cause problems. Go sneak in to Mexico and see how you're treated. Like shit even though you're human

Well Tegan you'll need gear, just not for riots. Just warning cause you'll have to deal with some hard rods thrashed at you. Non-leathal balls may repeatedly slam against you. And if you agitate the rods thrashing too much, they'll shoot a fast drying liquid projectile that will stiffen on your skin within 5 minutes if not washed off. So be careful.

Obama deported over 3 million people. So far trump has deported less than a quarter million. He will most likely not beat Obama’s numbers (the border Czar) yet Trump will go down in history as a Racist who deported all the illegals and causes the chaos! That’s Politics for Ya.

JR .. that was the BEST RESPONSE thank you for that laugh!! That’s a protest I can “get behind”
But yah I have no reason to be anywhere near downtown I’ll be in el Segundo and Long Beach area so that’s good to know ! Thanks for the insight everyone xoxox

It’s actually 2.5, and Obama focused on deporting people of serious crimes, not just picking up random hard working ppl with no priors. Get the facts straight instead of just yapping your mouth

You will be fine.
Just don't go near any USG offices
