A small tool bag with 8,10,12,14,17 mm sockets. 3/8, 7/16,1/2, 9/16, 5/8's US. Same for open and close end wrench's. Vise grips, pliers. Philips and standard screw drivers.
Had to replace an Alt in Vegas once, didn't bring the bag. Thankfully with Toyota engineering only needed two wench's. Then another time the radiator blew and had to AAA it into Vegas. An hr later back on the road to UT and made it there before dark. Course it helps being a mechanic.

What you DON'T have in your car is important too.
2 truckers were changing at a truck stop shower and one stripped down to a pair of lacy, pink panties. "Gawd, how long you been wearing those, Gus?" asked one and Gus replied, "Ever since my wife found them in my glove compartment.

Well I don't have a car right now. But I personally like to keep a dead hooker in the trunk.

a change of clothes including shoes
gift card for emergency gas
an extension cord

Flashlight - no explanation needed
Small tool kit - small socket wrench, screwdrivers, etc
First aid kit - bandages, antiseptic spray, gauze, tape
Bungee cords - so very very useful for a lot of things
Small squeegee that doubles as an Ice scraper - my rear window has no wiper so the squeegee is helpful and it once unexpectedly snowed while I was in Big Bear and the ice scraper was a lifesaver
Tire pressure gauge
Flat tire repair kit (it destroys the tire but allows you to use it for a few days until you can get it replaced)

which one do you recommend?
|
|
|
@littlemiss:
I built my own with a list of things I knew I would need and other things I researched online. I started off with a large duffle with padded sides. And filled it up from there. Kits always lack in quality or certain items.

Signal flare gun and flares. In case you neet to get attention or found and it doubles as a weapon. You should see the fun when you shoot someone with it and they light up like the 4th of July and they are legal to carry!
