Is that The Westin Bonaventure Hotel off Figueroa St?
|
|
|
Probably in Pasadena it is a nice place
|
|
|
Westin Bonaventure's top floor restaurant was the setting for a sitcom in the 80's called It's A Living.
While you are staying there, I recommend checking out some or all of the following if you like to walk and explore. I would do these in this order if I had several hours to kill and wanted to get in a lot of steps. Or check out the Dash LA map if you just want to get to one of these places quicker:- Los Angeles Central Library on 5th and Flower is a block from the Bonaventure
- The Biltmore on 5th and Grand
- Pershing Square on 5th and Olive
- The Last Bookstore on 5th and Spring
- Grand Central Market on Broadway between 4th and 3rd
- Exit the market on Hill Street side and take Angels Flight, the shortest train you've ever taken, up to California Plaza. Or, if you really want a work out, take the 153 step stairs, lol.
- The Museum of Contemporary Art on Grand and 3rd
- The Broad Museum on Grand and 2nd
- Disney Concert Hall on Grand between 2nd and 1st (pro-tip, to the left of the main entrance on Grand, there is a long set of cement stairs... go to the top and check out the garden)
- The Music Center on Grand between 1st and Temple has Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Mark Taper Forum, and Ahmanson Theatre
- Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels on Grand and Temple
- Head back towards Grand and 1st and go down Grand Park towards City Hall at Spring and Temple.
- Head down to Little Tokyo (its a big area, but middle is about 1st and Central)
- Union Station at Alameda and Los Angeles has some great architecture
- Historic Olivera Street is the other side of Alameda
- Philippe The Original at Alameda and Ord... one of two LA restaurants that claim to have invented the French Dip sandwich (pro-tip, if you like really spicy mustard, buy a bottle here to take home and you will thank me later)
- You will already technically be in Chinatown, so head up to Ord and Broadway and start exploring.
- You can take the B dash back to the central library to get back to the Bonaventure.
- Take a nap, or a swim if the pool is heated, lol
Have fun!

Thanks for the summary Randy. All great places I have visited, yes all of them.
It's a great place to stay or visit. It use to have a Brewery on the Terrace level where I tasted one of my favorite beers, called 'The Strawberry Blonde'.

You bet your sweet ass it does.
Both LA Prime Steakhouse and BonaVista Lounge do one full rotation per hour.

The Westin on Century Blvd near LAX is excellent too. I've stayed there many times while they held conventions.

Hi guys ! I was at the LAX location , hope to visit the one in Dtla in the future. I really enjoyed my stay. I tried the steakhouse & I loved the drinks at the bar they are the bomb.

In that case, I have zero recommendations for things to get to on foot when staying at the Westin LAX, other than other hotels and maybe a strip club on Century. You could also walk 2 miles east (or take a bus) to Intuit Dome, Hollywood Casino, SoFi Stadium area.
Two other things of note:- Have your guests park on Glasgow Place where there are a bunch of 2 hour meters.
- Fun fact, it's called Century Boulevard because it is between 99th and 101st streets...100 blocks south of Beverly Boulevard.

Thanks for letting me know. Now
I know for the next time I go. I didn’t know Hollywood had a casino lol

Everytime I was at the Westin LAX, there were a couple of places to eat by there. Across the street on Century and Aviation there's a Denny's. There's also a Carl's Jr on the other side of the Greenline train tracks on Aviation. Also there's a McDonald's on Century and La Cienega.

It's Hollywood Park Casino on Century Blvd:-)

@CarmelRedbone
" I didn’t know Hollywood had a casino lol"
Hollywood Park Casino is in Inglewood, near where the race track
used to be, now it's just a poker room. (near sofi stadium)...
Better poker rooms are Commerce Casino, Bicycle Casino,
Hustler Casino, and Hawaiian Gardens.
None have slots nor "real" casino games, mainly poker, but
there's some PaiGow, and a really crappy version of blackjack
(crappy cuz the drop).
That said, the main things in DTLA are some museums, and
some club/theater venues. But those are no where near the
Westin.
Nearest the Westin is the LA Public Library main branch.
4-5 blocks northeast you'll find MOCA and The Broad (museums)
and Disney Concert Hall and the Music Center.
