Otherwise, CIA wet work.

Military science fiction. Favorite authors are David Drake, John Ringo, Tom Krantman, Jerry Pournell.
The Falkenberg’s Legion series is an all time favorite as are virtually all of John Ringo’s books.

The Historian By
Elizabeth Kostova
A Gothic novel,

Practically anything by John Steinbeck....but especially East of Eden.
|
|
|
^ If you like Steinbeck, read To a God Unknown, the symbolism of actions and objects is great.
I read extensively for work, so when I have time to unwind, I gravitate towards books that offer a fun escape, classic character-driven crime novels like James Bond and Dirk Pitt adventures.

Love sci fi military and the stated authors above but these are the ones that stuck with me
Cobra trilogy by Timothy Zahn,
Bolo series by Keith Laumer,
Starship Trooper by Robert Heinlen the book not that mess of a movie,
Armor by John Steakly multiple meanings of armor here, and of course
The Forever War by Joe Haldeman
Urban fantasy with strong women(kick ass and take names later and watch out for the shotguns glocks and swords) Jane Yellowrock series by Faith Hunter, The Kate Daniel's series by Ilona Andrews. And the classics
Isaac Asminov,Ursula Le Guin, CJ Cherryh, Williamm Gibson ,Andre Norton
Guess I'm giving my age away. Lol
