Best I've had in LA at The Steak Library.
|

I find the cut is as important as the restaurant. Go to a reputable steak house and order a ribeye or porterhouse.

goucho grill ; argentinian steak house, there are 3 in the OC area. b sure to stop in on your way down next time
|
|

Lately it's been Texas de Brazil for me and my brother...Rancho Cucamonga..
|
|
|
Speaking for OC, there is a small handful of elite steak places IMO
I'd put them, in order:
1. Selanne's in Laguna
2. Bourbon Steak in Dan Point
3. The Ranch in Anaheim
4. Ocean 48 in Newport

Rare society in San Clemente was really good when I went for their 1st day open a while back. The service was also amazing but it is pricey
Not sure about la but aqualung has spectacular taste (and tastes spectacular) lol so id vouch for anything he says

Taylor's in Koreatown. and it's also a vibe, old school banquettes. There is a sister location in La Cañada/Pasadena... I also think they have great prime rib too. La Canada is less of a vibe

June, I love rare society.

The best steak ive ever ordered was from Donovan's Steak and Chop in San Diego. however they have been closed for a few years, which was both surprising and sad to find out.
Second best would be at the Ruth Chris in Northridge (other locations didn't quite match up).

Check out r/FoodLosAngeles on reddit. There are threads like once a week on best steakhouse.
Taylor's in k-town comes up a lot.
IMO, Mastros Beverly Hills and Nick+Steff's in DTLA are both top notch.

Yes, this subject is broad. I won't mention locations because you can have a good steak in lots of places if you know what cut to order and how to request it be cooked.
If you like your steak "well done" and/or you put A1 on your steak... we can not be friends!
🤣🤣🤣

If you find yourself in or near Albuquerque, NM, visit Vernon’s Speakeasy. Best steak I ever had (ribeye, of course,) and just a cool place in general.

try Born and Raised on India street in San Diego. Great place, nice vibe, great bar as well. The steaks here were pretty incredible.
If you are in Vegas, try the steak house in the Fountanbleu hotel called "Don's Prime". This place surprised me, it is really excellent and well worth a visit.

There are tons of places to get a good steak these days. Depends on where you looking. I'm in the South Bay and we have The Arthur J, BOA, Eddie V's (good seafood too), Flemings, Porterhouse Bourbon & Bones to name a few. Not to mention, any Hillstone restaurant is usually a can't miss.

Wow!
So many great choices and memories.
Jockos is a good choice, up the Coast, off the beaten path.
Another treat is Trabuco Oaks Steakhouse.
Have always enjoyed Steak 'n Stein.
And Capital Grill and Ruth Chris.
Benihana. Or a good Argentine Steak House.
Gotta go. I'm hungry.

|
Omg lol ... SOOOO no one was going to tell me that I put desert instead of dessert hahaha
Oh well... 🍫
Not a steakhouse but I went to 5 on the hill recently and it was really good. The lobster chilaquiles were amazing and the margarita and mimosa flights were perfect!
Cute little place for brunch and a good time
Happy hump day y'all

I say
"Ruth Chris" and "Mastro's" and "BOA" is a must try
"Steak 48" in Beverly hills is great for steak also and has delicious side dishes and nice ambience for a dinner date!
Never been to "Ocean Prime" but heard good things about it
"Gwen" is underrated! You walk in and its a meat market! Then you turn right and its a beautiful restaurant!
"Spago" is my absolute favorite (not really a steak house restaurant) but everything on the menu is a 10/10 and owner is wolfgang puck sooooo yeah haha
Now Wagyu Steak.... haha
"Cut" there the steak melts in your mouth!!!!
"Gwen" has wagyu options a little pricey but worth it!!
"Steak 48" has some wagyu options!
"Matu" is a new place and want to go check it out! i havent yet
I have more but these came to my mind as i think of a nice steak
Maribel is not a foodie i swear
|
|
|
Maribel, that's about 10 dates I need to take you on.
Or better yet, order in.
|
|
|
@aqualung1 Totally down!
|
|
|
The Range (Santa Margarita CA) coffee crusted rib eye is to die for, or go for the fresh kill straight off the ranch. I’ve had buffalo and elk from the ranch!!!
The meat cellar (Claremont CA)
Shogun (La Verne CA)
I most definitely agree Jockos is up here too!

One of my favorite places to eat is the San Franciscan in Torrance. The best Prime Rib, Steaks, and huge lobster tails can be added to the meal if you like surf and turf.
