OK, but why did you start by relating it to the MAGA's.

I don’t think the death of an individual is something to be celebrated. However, I do understand the deep anger n America. Healthcare insurance companies are known for denying coverage that ultimately results in patient deaths. United Healthcare was notorious for this, and no doubt, thousands of people have died as a result (not to mention the many bankruptcies caused by a health issue). And this guy carried out the policies that killed those people. Those who have lost loved ones are as angry as they would be if someone pulled the trigger of a gun that took the life of the person they lost.

Sorry my sympathy is out of network, los of LOL'S are covered however some side effects may not be covered or pre-approval its required. This is not about right or left issues this is about greedy people and 2 tier system of justice may I add. How many people have lost their lives, or had serious secondary issues due to lack of approval procedures, medications or treatments. But what i do I know as long as my investments keep producing excellent returns who cares about others. Anyhow people in general are so sensitive about this thing called life so overrated. And why not his life and crime takes precedent over all other that have been shelved for years. Their lives are less valuable they didn't produce much anyhow. I wish everyone should go through homelessness, experience claim denied (even if you have been paying your insurance for years) and need of the backup system that it is in place when you needed. Maybe it may have a positive or negative impact. I was sitting in my mighty throne and one day I got knocked the fuck down boy was that a wake up call, I became aware and experienced first hand the failure of our health care system and let's not talk about the charities that I used to contribute 🤣🤣🤣 their answer was "NOPE WE CAN'T ASSIST YOU AT THIS TIME" lucky i made used of my 401k and penalized %35 because I was of age to withdraw and the CA diagnosis was served enough they were right CA what jock!!!! 😂😂😂. The good thing that came out of all this is that I no longer have a repressive sex live I'm enjoying it every drop of it. In short why is everyone crying specially his loved ones they have megabucks to live a comfortable lives... just my humble opinion

I believe the philosopher Rodney King asked, “Can’t we all just get along?”
We mostly did. The corporate media profits from division. Social media makes anonymous cowards into lions.
I keep my side of the street clean and when I am wrong, promptly admit it.

so your question is:
why do we hate, and:
why must that hate lead to cold blooded murder:
Broad question - broad answer:
Some think with their hearts, not their brains. That is why we hate.
Many are convinced of their own moral superiority - so no amount of logic, nor reason can convince them otherwise.
When someone thinks in such a manner, those who oppose them are not only wrong, but evil.
For the CEO being shot in the back - in 2 generations, we have gone from where a person was largely responsibility for one's own health to the mentality of someone else should pay for the stuff that one consumes
Health insurance companies, like any other corporation are in business to make money.
How did Health insurance take over and how did we move from personal responsibility to having someone else pay for what we need? Short answer is the Fed government got through the tax code and other ways.
When you remove the cost from the decision making (having someone else pay for it) - then costs increase.....
No simple solution, a wholly Government option will simply make matters worse by it being even more expensive and will lead to rationing.

i woulda picked a different one
i need the facebook dude to keep investing in VR... and he has been talking and donating
the google dude... high on list
amazon dude... he's coming around and donating... lets see where it goes, with his WAPO
old microsoft dude... bad for the world. probably needs to go... 350 million spent from his charities to media? he needs it, with all those island trips with clinton
not sure MAGA should be brought up with this murder. was he wearing a maga hat?
still some hate going on.
will be interesting on how maybe of these cases trump is going to win... he might have the library funded by the end of this term

The reference to MAGA was as it relates to the intense emotions and sometime actions that were a byproduct of a "Us against them" or "If you are not with us then you are against us" mindset. MAGA was not necessarily the only ones to espouse seemingly hateful feelings and certainly not the first. But they have been the most noticeable in recent years.
The Columbine High School massacre in 1999 was, at the time, an unheard of event. Nowadays it seems like a weekly occurrence. What has changed in our society in 25 years?
We had made great headway in dealing with racial intolerance but in the last 6 years it seems to been set back decades.
We are seeing a seismic shift in ideas and attitudes that does not seem to be very healthy.
We seem to be losing our civility.
I think the internet has a lot to do with it. This great invention of instant knowledge is a double edged sword. It is literally a fight between good and evil. Which one will prevail?
With respect to "what has happened in our society to make us so hateful", clearly many things but perhaps the most significant being wealth and income inequality.
Haven't you noticed that death has to happen before change is made ?
Take PCH in Malibu for example. And many others dangerous intersections around town.
Although I don't agree with the shooting, I am glad that it puts other Medical CEO's ON Notice.
Cause we sure as Hell are not getting our money's worth.
As 150 Billion in taxpayer dollars just in 2023 alone were given to illegals.
WHY are people not Outraged by that ?
Yeah, going from Maga to the CEO killing makes little sense. Most of those who I have heard who seem to accept the killing as basically justified are left wingers---Warren, AOC, etc.
Nobody ever seems to talk about the hate of antifa or blm when they are burning and looting cities. That hate is okay, I guess.
The killing was a criminal act, but American health care is an absolute disaster. It was terrible before Obama care which made it worse. People point to drug companies and other bad actors. But by far the worst, most evil are the insurance companies. They bribe the commissioners and politicians so they can reap huge salaries while killing and bankrupting millions of Americans.
Taxpayers like me pay for health care 3 times: high taxes for all the illegals and deadbeats who get free care. Outlandishly high premiums for required worthless "insurance. " And cash for our own health care because the so-called insurance companies don't pay shit.
One silver lining of this tragic murder is that the true villains of the American healthcare travesty--insurance companies-- may get a little criticism before they pay google, politicians, etc., to bury it.
How did Obama make healthcare worse? Are the people I know who didn’t have healthcare until the ACA worse off despite thing the opposite?
I had no idea Brian Thompson was in charge of denying insurance claims but I hear Luigi Mangione was not insured by United Healthcare.
I didn’t know Brian Thompson’s family had megabucks and I didn’t know megabucks could take away the pain and sorrow of losing a loved one by way of murder.
I’m so naive.

I think when a charismatic leader preaches a message of hate the weak-minded will follow him.

kind of funny
maybe check out the videos of MAGA people headed to a rally and listen to them talk to other people
there is are no RACE issues
lots of DEM pod cast people talked about their experience. did you have a different experience?
obama was the RACE baiting dude... hence his name
did you see the latest Q and A a few days ago... not sure biden took that many questions in his 4 years... and this dude has not even started yet
and yes... my tolerance is low
if people on the left still have the hate and trying to hurt people or cheat the process... they need to go. a few, maybe like the MED exec. not sure i would blink an eye
You have a great sense of humor. I think laughter is the best medicine
It is not MAGA making excuses for a blatant assassination. It's the opposite side of the political aisle doing that. See Senator Elizabeth Warren's comment as proof.

“they need to go … not sure i would blink an eye”

@bird
My point was that ALL of that hatred is bad and it doesn't matter who or where you find it! It is EVERYWHERE these days. It was not like that back in the 90's. People had differences of opinions but they didn't resort to violence, or even violence laden speech in their intercourse with society. Of course there were a few isolated cases but in general people got along. Not anymore. Getting along is out of fashion. Hate and violence has become the soup du jour.
The hatred and violence were horrifying. It’s evident that he sought to justify his actions through the words he inscribed on the bullets ("Deny, Defend, Dispose") derived from the book "Delay, Deny, Defend : Why Insurance Companies ...". Clearly, he is was already delusional, and I feel his increased isolation over the past year only deepened his mental state.
If you have not read it, it is interesting and ultimately ties into a capitalistic society. The book breaks down the tactics insurers use to protect their profits and make it harder for people to get the compensation they're owed.
On the topic of books:
I am currently reading "Change Your Brain, Change Your Life" by Dr. Amen. This book explains how taking care of your brain can improve your life. He talks about how brain health affects how we think, feel, and act, and gives simple tips for boosting mental well-being, reducing stress, and creating better habits for a happier, healthier life. Much of the treatment and success can be achieved through supplements and vitamins.

insurance companies can be mother fuckers.
it is a relief when they pay off what is owed... but sometimes it costs serious money to get to that point or atty's there to prey on people that don't have the money, and take 30-40 percent of contract...but they are always looking to NOT pay or pay less.
do have an HMO for health. they go above and beyond testing and meds they want you to take... even free to you and huge cost to them.
AND insurance costs going up for all things and they some companies are looking to get out of some states altogether.

Someone once said politics is a concentrated expression of economics. With the revolution in electronics, AI, , etc it is inevitable that there will be fissures in society and the political elites and those who finance them will help foment divisions. Divisions that can lead to violence and repression. The only antidote to this is a greater unity among those affected. We need leaders who will promote such unity which might come from a grassroots level.
The killing of the CEO just pointed out the anger of many people to a broken system
^ 100% agree and well put "fissures in society and the political elites and those who finance them will help foment divisions", isn't the common term "divide and conquer" LOL
welp, lets see if this NEW admin can help some things
i am hopeful, but also know that most in the government will do their best to trip it all up
The left and right will do what they can to trip up the other side. The left had the upper hand for the past 4 years and some of them are already talking about what they can do against the incoming administration. I still don't care for OP pointing solely at the MAGAs (I'll be past that now) the discord and divide she is talking about is not being calmed by our 'leaders' but led and fanned by them.

We elected someone who stokes the fires of hate at every opportunity.

always unfortunate they do that shit... bring shit up like that.
it is interesting now... watching and hearing of the WALL being sold off... maybe even this late.
talk about fucking the tax payers...
the people making those decisions... need to go by way of MED CEO. like today

I agree that it was wrong for Steve Bannon to scam people out of money meant to build a wall but I don’t wish him dead.

Scantron - "We" elected several of them over the past decade. They weren't the first.

Saying we are a nation of haters is a bit of an exaggeration. It is clear that 76 million people are tired of politicians no longer working for the people but instead working for their own special interests and increasing their net worth. If you want change stop voting for career politicians. If you want change in the health system stop voting for politicians who take money from big pharma and health insurance companies. That's a start.

The Supreme Court opened up our elections to unlimited spending and now billionaires are buying those elections. Regular people don’t have a chance.

one answer: Obama.....

Now I gotta ask, what did Obama do to you to get your panties in a bunch?

Everyone should look at the linked graph. It is eyeopening and illustrates the real problem in this country.
United Healthcare had the highest claim denial rate of all healthcare insurance companies. United Healthcare DENIED 32% of the claims that their insured customers filed.
Yes, no one should support or cheer on murder, but the murder of this one executed executive may change the near criminal policies of many insurance companies. We should be focusing on the tens of thousands of deaths caused by the denial of claims by these companies.
And FYI, before the executive's murder, Anthem was about to institute a new policy where they only paid for part of the anesthesia for medical procedures and planned to stick it to their clients to pay for the rest. BECAUSE OF THE MURDER, ANTHEM REVERSED THIS NEW POLICY OF FUCKING OVER THEIR CLIENTS BEFORE IT WENT INTO EFFECT.
So, the murder of the executive actually benefited the Anthem insureds.
Corporate greed is out of control in this country. U.S. healthcare costs the country double of any other developed country while many are denied the care they need.
Lastly, this is one area where the Right and Left agree. Fix the fucking healthcare system in this country. It should probably be socialized because healthcare should be a right and not offered by companies looking for any way to make a profit.
@InsearchofStarfish
Good to see you posting again. I was worried about you.

Well, obviously, starfish, I clicked in to let you know how stupid you are. I thought the subtext was pretty clear ...
Also, FYI, Ben Shapiro tried to make it a political issue that Democrats/progressives were cheering the murder of the United Healthcare CEO.
Shapiro was heavily criticized by his own supporters for not understanding that everyone, both liberal and conservative, are frustrated by the healthcare system in this country and want to see change.
Let's agree on a few things:
No one should support any type of murder for any reason.
The entire country is frustrated by powerful insurance companies intentionally screwing over their clients (there was one executive online who wrote that he resigned from his position after he realized that his bonus was predicated on finding ways for insureds not using their insurance, thus saving the company money).
Healthcare needs to be fixed in this country by removing the profit incentive.
Maybe some good could come out of the murder. To insurance executives are running scared now about possibly being the next to be targeted in copycat murders. And insurance company policies are changing now due to the murder.
Lastly, the apparent murderer, Luigi Mangione, who suffered from a severe back injury, was not insured by United Healthcare and came from one of the wealthiest families in Maryland (they own lots of real estate, country clubs, etc.). He apparently shot the CEO of United Healthcare (the country's 5 biggest corporation by market cap and has the worst policies in refusing to honor claims) to send a signal to the healthcare industry.

yep... i guess i took a break
got into CAM shit pretty hard and a few girls there this past year... it was pretty time consuming and a tad expensive ...easily doubled my yearly live budget. think they pretty much just waste the good fortune kind of a shame, but is what it is.
healthcare system and basically insurance in general are all fucked up... lets see if anything can get done
heard 50cent was looking to make documentary on the killer...
i knew he has back pain and issues that could not be fixed
will be interesting to see what his background is... the WHY and connection to it
it's always too bad these things happen... but like you SAY, maybe some good can come from it
i said the same thing about the WAR... it's horrible and these two populations will never ever recover from it. BUT, there are some positives that are going to come from it all
one is putin will probably be gone soon. shit is happening fast.
i thought both putin and XI would be gone before biden left office. die or whatever both also at that age and not too healthy

What's the problem?
Dem Pussy fells just as good as Republican Pussy.
I love them all

The murder of the healthcare CEO and the ousting of Assad are similar in the sense that it disrupts the status quo. People are sick of being powerless against corruption. Big insurance intentionally allowed their clients to die for more profit, and Assad murdered hundreds of thousands of Syrians to stay in power (a mass grave containing 100,000 bodies was discovered today).
Similarly, Putin allowed over 750,000 Russian soldiers to die in the war with Ukraine over the past two years. And for what? As @ISOS said, Putin is going down next.
There is uniform anger against unjust leaders of government and corporations that have worked the system in their favor to the detriment of society. Fuck them. They should all be worried. Maybe we will see some positive change because of all of this turmoil.

For those that are trying to make Luigi into some kind of hero, only encourage others to take similar actions. Brian Thompson is no more responsible for the health care industries shortcomings, that the CEO of Ralph's Markets is responsible for high food prices, and the fact that some can't afford them.
Brian Thompson was certainly loved by his family and others, and it is just sad that some people are so callous that they can celebrate his murder, and try to elevate a cold blooded murderer into being anything other than what he is.
Oh, you mean Brian Thompson, the guy who is estranged from his wife (who have lived separately for the past two years), who is being investigated for insider trading, and who was particularly effective in maximizing shareholder profit by creating a system of denying claims of those who are insured by his company?
Yeah, he’ll be sorely missed. He’s become the symbol of a corrupt healthcare industry. And that industry is now worried and has already started to alter its practices. This has become a Marie Antoinette moment. When you screw over the general public for personal gain, you may lose your head or be shot in the back. Positive change occurs when corruption has consequences.
^^^ I suspect you would be missed less
