The early bird catches the worm

But I would rather sleep in and catch the butterfly

Sooo... The other day I went out with some friends for the first time in a long time. Didn't get back in until 4am and sadly thats where it all began. Now normally my bedtime is like 830 (yeah yeah I know) lol I normally don't stay up past 9pm and with the time change I've been getting sleepy way before then

Well going out completely messed up my sleep schedule and idk how to get it back. Lol.. Does anyone have any suggestions because I can't keep going to sleep so early and waking up at 3am . I'm up before the sun and I don't like that ..

Maybe I can try to force myself to stay up later but idk how. As soon as I start yawning I'm done for.

What do you do to get back into a regular schedule? For the people who work all night, What are some methods that can help you stay up later (besides coffee or energy drinks) ? I tried taking a nap in the middle of the day and ended up laggy and tired all day so that didn't really work well

I think eventually your body gravitates to the sleep schedule it needs. Maybe you're just a morning person? In general I think a lot of us don't get enough sleep.

Take a trip to Hawaii or the Caribbeans or other places with a big enough time difference for a week or so. This may help you with readjusting your sleep schedule. If it doesn't, you get to go on a vacation.

Agree with the exercise comment. Go for a 20 min jog or bike ride or something when you start to feel sleepy. Paradoxically, it will actually make you less tired. Keep it long enough that it will wake up you but short enough that you can do it again a few hours later if you need to.

Howdy!

Fellow early riser here! 1st I would just like to say, going to bed early is amazing! It's right up there with drinking water and moisturizing, Also, waking up early, when most are asleep is so peaceful. A little harder to get moving when its cold, but still very lovely.

So, I have a monthly inventory. It's always late night, I go home then right back in the next morning. It always messes up my sleep schedule.

I force myself to stay up. No naps! None! Don't do it!
I rarely drink caffeine , so that isn't an issue for me , but if you do, I wouldn't recommend it.

I just make sure to keep busy, go out with friends, keep moving, stay hydrated, sometimes go shopping and buy things I really do not need,.. anything to just to keep awake.

When its time to go home, I eat a good meal, tale a long hot shower, take magnesium and pass out.

I wake up at 4:30 am and am back to normal.

If my 4th grade reading comprehension is right? you're going to bed much earlier than your regular time of 8-9pmish and waking up at like 3am. Like you're probably asleep right now.

Force you self to stay awake till your regular bedtime. Walk around. Do tasks. Dont Drive. Don't get comfortable, no laying down, nor comfortable sitting. Take deep long through the nose breaths, oxygen acts similar as a stimulant. followed by long nose exhales. Have cold air on your face head like a fan, cold water face splash.

I travel a lot internationally in crazy time zones. For me, nothing beats being outside and letting the natural rhythms of the day reset my clock. No coffee. No sleeping pills. Those just confuse things.

When I used to work grave, the best thing is protein (no silly, not that kinda protein). I would drink protein shake because it was hard to find food late at night where I worked.

Thank you

I fixed it but drinking Vietnamese coffee lol. I was starting to get sleepy and go to bed around 4pm and it was literally messing up my day. One day I went to get food and decided to just grab a coffee with my bahn mi and BOOM! ... That stuff is STROOOOONG lol ended up staying up for the rest of the day and then i was back to normal after that..

My normal bed time was like 8pm and I figured out ways to reset my schedule with diet. At first I would be so exhausted to where even if I was out at dinner with a friend I would be falling asleep by 830 lol . I just couldn't get my schedule together and always needed a nap especially after I ate . Decided to change how I eat and it has helped a lot. I no longer get fatigued or need naps. My mental clarity is coming back and I can stay up after 8 ,(like now lol)

Next step is to start working out and getting more toned and elevate my stamina. that should help as well, like some comments above mentioned

Thank you all!! I definitely appreciate your responses and will be using a few of these.
