Agreed. Very sad day. Lost another founder of the greatest counter culture band. RIP.

His ability to play “lead” bass is unparalleled. First saw the Dead in the mid-70’s, probably saw them close to 2 dozen times before Jerry died. There will never be another band like them.

Phil wasn't the most recognized member of the band, but he led them from being a jug band to being a jam band.

Huge fan here. Went to Dead Shows from the mid 70's back East till Jerry's passing. 100 shows total...
Phil will be sadly missed, a true legend. RIP my brother
