How to sell/trade firearms in CA? Advice appreciated

I know California gun laws are ridiculously strict but earlier this week I purchased a storage locker in which I found a 44 magnum handgun in a belt and holster. Looks like it's probably a remake of the old western type. Do I have to go to Arizona to sell it? I know I can't take them to pawn shops or gun shops. I would be willing to trade for it but then comes the worry if it ends up in some thugs hands or an undercover tried to buy it and I'm really fucked. Any and all suggestions welcome. Please don't offer to purchase it as I said I don't want to get arrested and will assume you're a narc just in case. Thank you

Why would anyone use this forum to inquire about selling a firearm?
Sounds like the kind of question an ATF plant would throw out.

From a law firm's site:

Owning an unregistered handgun in California is not a crime. But possession of an unregistered firearm in California outside of your home or business without a concealed carry license is — whether the weapon is concealed or carried openly.

In CA that firearm would need to be registered to you for you to be able to sell it here. Second note believe this would need to be turned into the police in CA, only way to have it registered to you here legally if it was inherited to you from somebody in your family mainly along the lines of mom/dad/grandma/grandpa. Or the legit owner sells it to you via FFL.

If you had dual state ID’s might be different . Find a red state gun show.

Take it to any FFL and have them run the serial number. If it’s not registered, they’ll register it to you.

If you a registered owner, and have a buyer, you can go to Turners. They can help you with paperwork.

They also do consignment, but if you need it back, you have to go through the paperwork and the waiting period again like you are getting a new one, even if you are the registered owner.

First off, you found it, so it is not yours yet.

LE would want you to return it to them to see find out if it's been registered. If it's been registered, then they would contact the rightful owner and question he or she as to why it went missing and landed in your storage locker. Then they will probably do a search to see if it's been misused, so on and so forth.

If you don't register it and somehow, they find out you have possession of it, it could potentially get you in some trouble.

In California, all firearms, including handguns, shotguns, and rifles, are required to be registered. To register a handgun in California, you must complete the necessary paperwork and submit it to the California Department of Justice within 60 days of moving into the state or acquiring the firearm.

You cannot possess an unregistered firearm in California.

Lots of information from the Bureau of Firearms | State of California - Department of Justice

Be a responsible citizen and gun owner.

If you’d like to stay out of the Grey Bar Motel & I’m sure you do then, search & locate an FFL (Federal Firearms Licensed) dealer such as Turners Outdoorsman, Ammo Bros., Bass Pro Shop, etc. to accommodate your transactions regarding firearms.

Holy shit, wtf???
Bad info in this blog, it is NOT illegal to own or carry an unregistered firearm in CA!!
I own shotguns that don't have serial numbers and are not registered.

You can google this, why do people post stuff that's not true?
Even some of this shit from Google is crap though, who has a CCW to carry their shotgun to Raahauges??

In California, the possession of an unregistered firearm is a complex issue. While it is not illegal to own an unregistered firearm, there are certain circumstances where possessing an unregistered firearm can lead to legal consequences.

Registered vs. Unregistered Firearms in California

In California, firearms are categorized into two main groups: registered and unregistered.

Registered Firearms: Firearms that are registered with the California Department of Justice (DOJ) are considered registered. These firearms have a serial number and are registered to a specific individual.
Unregistered Firearms: Firearms that are not registered with the California DOJ are considered unregistered. These firearms may not have a serial number or may not be registered to a specific individual.

Is it Legal to Possess an Unregistered Firearm in CA?

In California, it is not illegal to possess an unregistered firearm for personal use. However, there are certain circumstances where possessing an unregistered firearm can lead to legal consequences.

Public Possession: Possessing an unregistered firearm in public without a California Concealed Carry License (CCW) can lead to charges of unlawful gun possession, which is a misdemeanor. This is because California law requires that firearms be registered and that individuals obtain a CCW to carry a firearm in public.
Carrying in Public: Carrying an unregistered firearm in public, even if it is not loaded, can lead to charges of unlawful gun possession. This is because California law requires that firearms be registered and that individuals obtain a CCW to carry a firearm in public.
Selling or Transferring: Selling or transferring an unregistered firearm can lead to charges of illegal gun trafficking, which is a felony.

Another good reason to go ahead and get it registered NOW is this:

What if it was previously used in a crime? Your paper trail of getting it through an abandoned property sale is fresh. Wait a couple of years and do it and that may become cloudy.

Fuck the law.
So many politicians break the law every day. And you fucks are giving legal advice.
Wipe your fingerprints off the dam thing, sell it, burn it, throw it in a river for all I care. But get rid of it.
If it was used in the commission of a crime.....doood, your going DOWN !
Do not contact a Bitch a Snitch a Pig or a Punk....just get rid of it.
You better hope it wasn't used on Jimmy Hoffa.

OP, we could start a gofundme to raise money for you to buy ammo to finish off Butz, once and for all. Don't worry, vermin control is totally legal.

All in favor, raise your right arms <------ you see what I just did there?
