Jim Ladd was the quintessential LA DJ, He always had unknown facts to make it that much more interesting. The only 'old time' DJ left is Joe Benson' ( I also miss 'BC; = Bob Coburn another great LA Dj)
Jim Ladd was THE disc jockey on the FM band. In fact, he was the DJ used on the Roger Waters album Radio K.A.O.S. and was the inspiration for Tom Petty's song The Last DJ.
His weekly midnight HeadSets program, where he cultivated hour long sets of music designed to be listened to with headphones, was amazing.
