When I was a kid such an event may have seemed attractive. I can't find any find any reason to do such a thing now that I am a middle-aged man.
There was another event this year that turned out to be a total mess. There was a scout jamboree in Korea with 40,000 scouts. It was too hot. There was no shade. It was also held on a mud flat. There were too many bugs. Toilet facilities overflowed. It made headlines around the world.

Not saying that they shouldn't have it, they just shouldn't be telling everyone else to go green while they are more guilty than most.
