In a way he is right.
If you travel to different countries Jesus’ appearance changes.
You know that joke about “white Jesus?” It’s because it’s the American interpretation of what people feel he should look like. But based on actual science, Jesus of Nazareth would look like someone with long genetic ties to the Middle East.
There was a picture of what he should look like not so long ago.
Most of you rednecks would turn your backs on this individual if he said “ I am the Son of God. I am the Way.” If not something worse.
The people of the time and pace were... are... dark skinned.

I agree that tearing them down is not the best idea. People need structure in their faith.
But updating the images with what he should look like will give everyone a good reality check.

You do know we now have books and DVDs and the internet and shit, right?
And that most history is not in any way a thing in a statue anywhere?
And that statues are not history but glorify and salute some person from the past, and if oops... turns out that was not a person worthy of saluting, then that particular statue is just an eyesore and pain.
Americans tore down statues of King during revolution so it's a traditional American thing.
