Most of Europe (except for Sweden) went for lockdowns as well. There was more to it than Niel Ferguson's paper.

He broke his own rules on "social distancing" AND had a fucked up model
Each government had to choose it's own way thru the pandemic and, of course, his info was not the only consideration........but it was a big factor.
Anyway, he's out of a job so there's that
