Make sure you have plenty of gasoline. I had to go rescue someone because they assumed there was a gas ststion somewhere on that long long road.

Long road? It’s only 22 miles. If they didn’t have enough gas to get 22 miles, you should have made them walk!

Only go when there is ZERO traffic. I want to move out there.

I’ll still be in OC, but nature calls. I can’t even cross the street on Jamboree without the fear of getting squashed like a pancake.

Can’t complain though. OC treated me well. Great friends, fun adventures and memories I will forever cherish. I’m just so simple though.

Who else needs WIDE OPEN SPACES?!!

It’s actually Lake Elsinore not Temecula. And it is one of the most dangerous roads. The valleys on that stretch of roads are littered with car wrecks that were left. I know someone who was involved in a head on collision on 74 due to another driver’s insanity of going to fast and crossed the double yellow.

But of course the environmental quacks won’t allow a tunnel road to bypass it with a straight shot road. Which would eliminate a huge amount of traffic from the 91.

You can actually get off of Ortega Hwy. and take some jeep trails and end up in Temecula if the gates are all open.

Around 1991 or so... I drove Highway 74 one time from South OC to Lake Elsinore, on my way to my final destination in Temecula...

I had at least 3 people cross the center line and were coming at me head on ... This was when I was descending from the top of Highway 74 down to Lake Elsinore... It's a very winding highway on the Riverside County portion of the highway, and it's just too freaky to see cars coming right at you...

One and done for me on Highway 74...

I'd rather use Highway 76 East through Oceanside than use 74 ever again
