Yes, definitely. I eat $60 worth of samples everytime I go, but you have to fight for them.

If you want to make the fee worth it, pay it, then immediately buy the biggest highest end f_ckin big screen TV Costco has. Like 8k or some sh_t. (pixel density, not dollars)
Or you could buy a 5 lb bag of Doritos.

Actually you can go in and look around without a membership, but you can't buy anything except prescriptions at the pharmacy.

I buy my Membership in Mexico for about $20 US and use it when in the US. Suppose someone could use that for an excuse to visit Tijuana.

Damn, tee, so you were the dude in hockey gear! Yeah, I usually wear my football uniform (plus I use multiple disguises); those Chinese grandmothers ARE tough. But the samples are so good...I actually held my wedding reception there. Saved a bunch.

Go buy gas on weekdays when they open or before they close... no lines.
Usually a little cheaper than ARCO.

Both Costco and Sam's Club's frequently have discounted memberships and/or deals if you check out Groupon or LivingSocial on a weekly basis. The deals change. . but I've pasted some quick link of older offers I found as a reference

If you have say a $100 Costco gift card you can go in with out being a member  The GC can even be for as little as $10 Just need to use the GC when you pay at check out
Why pay for a membership if you can just keep buying the gift cards duh 
I have a lifetime membership to Costco but didn’t have to pay for it Don’t ask either But it involves a case of water, two TVs and socks

Emma if you want the best deal on membership, get a Costco Citi Visa credit card. It's free as long as you pay the Costco membership each year. Then you get an additional 4% off your gas purchases anywhere, 3% back on travel and restaurants, 2% back on all other Costco purchases, and 1% back on any other items.
So, for your $60 membership each year you get a check for hundreds of dollars at the end of each year. Just try and not buy that giant outdoor hot tub for your apartment balcony.

I have the $110 membership. It is worth it. If you want to just try it out, find someone who has a membership and have them buy you a Costco gift card. You'll be able to check things out without paying for a membership. A nice trial run

If you get the Sam's Club MasterCard you will get 5% off fuel wherever you use that card when fueling.
Costco does not take MasterCard.
