No, they are not backing off Trump, they are just letting him get comfortable before they roast him (and those that support him) on their show like Satan roasts fresh new arrivals in hell.
All this talk about backing off? Foreplay.. their actions get people to talk about the show, lull them into a false sense of comfort, then really, really stick it in the back.

All I can say the biggest gift the libs ever got was losing this election. Now instead of trying to defend the worst excuse for a human being much less presidential candidate in history they gleefully get to attack a man. Not his policies, him. Why would anyone believe the polls now when they so obviously had no connection to reality before the election? Is Trump flawed? Yes. Do his policies make sense? Too soon to tell on many fronts. I do like, however, that instead of trying to figure out how the Dems lost touch with their constituents all they do is bitch. Good plan for future success.
